Unfortunately I know little of Indian culture and the queer liberation movement there, which means that the plot is uncertain at times. This is an excellent film, and deserves better distribution. The “Ka” word in the title refers to Ancient Egyptian religion. Ka was the part of the human entity believed to be a life-force of a person that survived after death. While somewhat analogist to the Western culture's "soul", it is not synonymous. It is symbolized by outstretched arms raised in an U shape, as in the cover picture and the alternative image of an Egyptian wall carving. "Bodyscape" is an artistic style where close up photographs of the human form convey the impression of landscape. |
