The film is adapted from an autobiographical novel by Rudi van Dantzig, provocative Dutch Choreographer -- “For a Lost Soldier·” Van Dantzig recalls his adolescent affair with a Canadian soldier at the end of WWII when the Netherlands is liberated· It is a beautiful sensitive story of a boy's awakening and first romantic love, While some have condemned the film for promoting a Pedophilia relationship, their relationship clearly does not satisfy the definition contained in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) is published by the American Psychiatric Association.

This film of nearly a half-century ago is one of the earliest attempts at making a gay positive film· While the writing and acting is stilted, the production quality somewhat crude, and the ethos very much reflects the 70's -- psychedelic mushrooms, Indian medicine man (the guru) -- it is an important film in the developing queer liberation story · I found the music especially annoying; it drowned out the plot, and was not well coordinated with the action· My dvd appears to have been copied direct from film (no tape), has odd stop motion pauses, perhaps when film reels were changed? No native Americans in this film! No scruffy mountain men either; all clean shaven anglos.

[seller]	The plot for The Experiment is little more than an envelope to tie together a series of explicit erotic scenes· For 1973 the sex may have been adventuresome, but by today's standards is pretty lame· So, these two young best friends decide to "experiment"· After a few bumps and grinds, they find their "true" selves· The producer and director are experienced porn filmmakers; but overall, the film is pretty banal· Unless you have an interest in the history of queer films, you may want to put this one low on your "to view" list.

Using the pageant as a means of escape from political persecution, the organiser Mahmoud — already given asylum in Berlin — hopes to offer the winner a chance to travel as well as bring international attention to the life-threatening situations faced by LGBT Syrians.	Richard & I saw this film on the closing night of the Long Island Gay and Lesbian Film Festival in Huntington, NY, with a group of six friends· We mostly agreed that it was a mediocre film with an important theme -- the plight of Arab and especially Syrians· "The whole concept of anybody being brave/foolhardy enough to publicly come out as a gay Syrian is tough enough to get one’s head around, but the very idea that there is such a thing as a Mr Gay Syria competition is beyond belief·" [See QueerGuru]· Richard says he was surprise to see how similar queer cultural expression among the Syrian refugees was to gay culture in the United States· It's a bit scary how much we have influenced the world.

I recently subscribed to Revry·tv. a streaming service:: "Queer owned and operated, Revry was founded to showcase the works that our community wants to see and to highlight stories that are still being overlooked by the mainstream…" I was surfing and picked Night Is Ours more or less as a trial· Well -- not a film I would normally pick, but an interesting short ghost fantasy· My first impression of Revry is that it is a bare-bones service with a weak user interface·… Hopefully it will improve with time· After watching on Revry, I noticed that the film is available on Amazon Prime.

He preserved nearly all of these detailed recollections and threaded them together in a portrait of a gay life.	Director Oremland recalls many of the gaymen he has known, many of whom he can not even remember their names, and weaves them together into an important queer heritage film. Of course, he doesn't highlight all 100, but his life has been sufficiently eclectic and is representative of most eras and cultures (that is, Western cultures), that this film becomes an important historical work· I thought it might be tedious, but it is not; I found myself going on little nostalgia journeys.

Normally, I am not a great fan of thrillers, but Cola de Mono grabbed me· Dark and erotic. Very true to the gay underground of the 1980s-1990s.

They are roommates, best friends, inseparable. A lost match makes him reconsider his life and he goes back to Hungary to take charge of an inheritance from his grandfather. He hopes for more simplicity. Yet his solitude does not last long. Soon after his arrival he meets Áron and a mutual attraction between the two boys develops and they both explore their identities. Suddenly Szabolcs receives an unexpected phone call from Bernard: he has arrived to Hungary...	This is a film that could have been very fine, but was unsatisfying at the end· I'm not sure why. Was it because character was not finely developed? What was the spark that led to the development of Szabolcs and Aron infactuation· The attempted theft of Szabolcs motocycle by Aron was unconvincing· Why Director Ádám Császi's ending? It seemed cheap.

Shane finds out that Pich is dying, he decides to become a monk.	A beautiful, meditative love poem on dying and grief·, sensitively told and photographed.
