The Weavers

Sarah (Sally) Weaver, b. 1797, (wife to John Middaugh) is my third great grandmother.  According to Lucius E. Weaver in History and Genealogy of a Branch of the Weaver Family (The Du Bois Press. Rochester, New York. 1928), she is the 17th great granddaughter of Humphrey Wever, the "first Weaver" in our line to use the Weaver (Wever) surname.

The Weaver's are ostensibly descended from the kings of Wales.  The first "king" in this line is Cunedda.  I have documented this line elsewhere (see Wales Connection - Cunedda).

Descendents of Humphrey Wever

Lucius Weaver's work A History and Genealogy of a Branch of the Weaver Family is available online at Genealogy.com online library.  This is a subscription service.  This is a scanned copy, and a few mis-scannings have been  so far identified.

A hard copy reprint of the work is available from the Higginson Book Company, 148 Washington St., PO Box 778, Salem, MA.  Tel 978-745-7170.

On these pages I have documented the Weaver's, mostly as found in Lucius Weaver's work.  So far, I only have fully transcribed the descendents of William Weaver (b. 19 Dec 1695 in East Greenwich, Kent, RI, son of William Weaver and Elizabeth Harris).  He is the 16th generation from Humphrey Wever.  From this William, I have completed the documentation of my direct ancestor line back to Humphrey Wever (with but a few of the ancillary lines included.)

The Weaver's who are in my pedigree line are identified with the ^ symbol directly following their name, making it easier to track through the pages.

Lucius Weaver published his work in 1928.  He often refers to people in the present tense, such as "He is a farmer in Wilna, N.Y."  I have taken these entries to mean that, to Lucius Weaver's knowledge, the individual was alive "abt 1928," and my entries reflect this assumption.
