Written, produced and directed by Scud (Amphetamine, Permanent Residence), Utopians continues the Hong Kong indie provocateur's style of queer art films that boldly embrace graphic sexuality and male nudity. Screened at the 2016 Hong Kong Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, Scud's sixth film follows a young man of conservative upbringing and his sexual awakening after he finds himself strangely drawn to a male professor. On this journey of love, passion and self-discovery, the literature-loving youth often feels like his world parallels the literary world of Japanese author Mishima Yukio.
