Notes
So many queer coming of age films feature middle-class youth in suburban settings· It is refreshing to see urban kids from a working class neighborhood. Frankie wants to fit in with his group of more-or-less untethered peers, while at the same time come to grips with his own sexuality and self identity· He says, at one point, that the guys he hangs out with are not his bros; he has neither family nor friends he can confide in· He's going it alone· It is a gritty journey· It can’t be easily resolved.
