Teenager Beni falls in lust with Fögi, a somewhat older singer in a Rock band. Beni seeks out Fögi and is willingly seduced by Fögi· Beni follows him where ever he takes him. But Fögi pulls Beni deeper and deeper into his own personal abyss. It is based on the novel F. est un salaud by Martin Frank.

It is now nearly 20 years since this film was first released· It is a still a wonderful film and has withstood the test of time· Yet it surprises me that it is a relatively unknown film·
I knew little of Fögi Is A Bastard prior to the time of my viewing· At first I thought that it was just going to be another teenage groupie movie marketed with a gayteen twist· Or a film about the horrors of addiction to recreational drugs· Or perhaps of teenage angst due to unrequited love·
Some reviewers have called it a love story, a romance· I do not see how it could be either, at least not in any classic sense·
Quite simply, this is a tragedy· Like classical tragedy, Beni and Fögi, each with their personal faults and demons, play their roles in life's drama to their inevitable disaster.
