Alex Hughes (Alan Rickman) is a British man with a tragic past he’s trying to forget as he drives across Canada. At a truck stop he meets the eccentric teen writer Vivienne (Emily Hampshire), who encourages him to open up more and live life. After a series of events, Alex finds himself at Vivienne’s house looking for her mother, Linda (Sigourney Weaver), only to find that she has a form of autism. Not knowing what to do or where else to go, Alex stays and experiences Linda’s many quirks, which include an extreme love of snow. With the help of Linda’s neighbor Maggie (Carrie-Anne Moss), Alex is able to confront his fears and come to peace with the life he was fleeing from.
