Notes
This rock musical movie is based on the original Broadway/Off Broadway musical of the same name; Not having seen the play, I do not know how closely it follows the original production; The New York Times reviewer commented: "After all, this allegorical semi-drag show that calls itself a ''post-punk neo-glam rock musical'' bears an uncomfortably subversive message about the fluidity of sexual roles, disguise and self-invention in rock music;" I found the plot hard to follow at times; And unfortunately, the poor sound quality of the TV on which I happened to view the picture, coupled with an old man's hearing loss, made it difficult for me to catch the lyrics -- which are important to the arch of the story; Music was great; performances were great; Definitely a film I will watch again with a specific goal of paying more attention to the plot details.
