As the military regime starts to loosen its grip on Brazil (1978), we follow the romance between a young 18 year old soldier (Fininha) and a cultural agitator who owns an anarchist cabaret (Clécio). Conflicts and reflections on a generation analyzed from its margins -- exception underscoring the vision of the rule.

Notes
Tattoo is an interesting film of an aspect of the Brazilian resistance of the 70s and 80s, much in the flavor of Dzi Croquettes (see links) · There are many shots of the cabaret theatre performances, but the writing is weak especially in the area of character development · It is a bit of a shame Tattoo doesn’t reach a bit further, as if it had delved deeper into the characters, their problems and conflicts, it could have been great. I never developed much empathy for either Clécio (leader of the theatre troup) or Fininha (the young soldier) · With the exception of a pretty face, what drew them together so quickly and deeply?
