Starting in the 1970s, I was personnally involved in a similar revolution within the Presbyterian Church (USA) -- While the polity is different, the underlying issues are similar -- My church has come a long way on LGBTQ acceptance since the 1970s, as has western society in general -- The United Methodist Church, fearful of a schism, punted at their General Conference in 2016 voting for more study (in religious language, more "discernment")--
