To the extent that cinematic media allows, this film seems to be a fine overview of gay themes in cinema -- See Vito Russo's 1981 book "The Celluloid Closet, Homosexuality in the Movies" for a more comprehensive treatment. Since it uses Russo's book as its principal source, recent cinematic history is not covered.
