I, of course, know the story of Matthew Shepard's murder in 1998 -- I did not know much of the story of Matthew Shepard the person -- Seeing this film 18 years after his death reminds us all that hate crimes did not end with this event and its aftermath, although some small progress may have been made -- This personal story of Matthew Shepard perhaps does not tell his full story, but it tells a necessary story.
