In director Baz Luhrmann's contemporary take on William Shakespeare's classic tragedy, the Montagues and Capulets have moved their ongoing feud to the sweltering suburb of Verona Beach, where Romeo and Juliet fall in love and secretly wed. Though the film is visually modern, the bard's dialogue remains.

Notes
Richard & I happened on this version of Romeo & Juliet while surfing cable during a Tuesday breakfast. At one point I turned to him and said "This is not going to end well." And I did not mean the Shakesperian plot - which could only end one way. It's the getting there. It turned into a great muddle. If I had known, I would have surfed to another channel while I had my second cuppa.
